How to Replace a Capacitor on a Circuit Board – A Beginners Guide

A few weeks ago I decided to replace all of the Capacitors on my old Commodore Amiga 1200 main board. It seems a common asked question online, what the best way replace surface-mount electolytic capacitors on older electronic equipment is.

I have had many years experience in working with PCBs including soldering through-hole and surface mount componants and also reworking componants and replacing them.

Here is my guide on replacing the different types of Capacitor you may find on a PCB.
